Business Details

What areas do you serve?

Our studio is in Los Angeles, but we offer virtual lessons for anywhere in the world!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

We began our business because we saw a need for wedding dance lessons done in a low pressure and inclusive environment. There are many dance studios out there, but few focus specifically on wedding dances and even fewer offer lessons from a married couple who have been through the wedding process. Our vast knowledge of all forms of dance can help couples bring their vision to life - whether it's Waltz, Salsa, Hip hop, or Bollywood. Our specialty is beginners, LGBTQ+ couples, and couples who want to blow their guests away but don't know how to bring their vision to life.

What's the coolest thing about owning your own business?

The coolest thing about owning our own business is having control over our ability to earn, as well as being able to run our business in the way we feel is best for couples and ourselves.

Do you have a favorite story to share?

A couple came to us because their therapist told them they needed to do an activity together. The therapist said it had to be out of the house and something they were both new at. We began dance lessons with them and over the course of several months we witnessed how their communication improved, how they problem solved together, and how they genuinely had fun learning a new skill. After about 6 months of lessons, they got engaged and we were able to choreograph an incredible first dance for them! They just celebrated their 10 year anniversary.

What advice could you offer to someone starting a business like yours?

JUST START! There's never a perfect time, you'll never be 'ready', you'll never have it all figured out - but the amount of time you spend dreaming about it might equal the same amount of time it takes to really start to get recognized. Spend that time learning as you go and figuring it out along the way so you aren't paralyzed by not feeling ready.

What advice could you offer to engaged couples planning their wedding?

Remember that you are a wedding vendor. Many dance studios offer wedding lessons as an after thought and couples want to feel completely comfortable with every vendor they work with. Listen to their vision and be open minded about songs, styles, and abilities.

What advice could you offer to engaged couples planning their wedding - as both a wedding professional and a married human?

Gather as much info as you can and really listen to vendors when they offer their expertise. Most couples have never done this before and the advice and info that vendors offered us was invaluable. Also - do your research. Read reviews, remember that cheaper isn't always better, and instagram isn't reality.
