Live Wedding Painter

Hi guys! This week on the pod we had DC married couple Brittany and Tim. Tim is a pilot and Brittany is a live wedding painter. How cool is that job title? We talk about how they met, their funny proposal at the Tidal Basin and how they cope with Tim’s schedule. They are completely adorable and we talk about how Brittany already won her real life bachelor Pilot Tim!

SHOW NOTES

How did you two meet?

Online on ChristianMingle.com , haha! I (Brittany) sent Tim a smiley face to let him know I was interested. He was flying, so we texted/Skyped a lot before we were able to meet in person for the first time. The first thing he texted me after I gave him my number? "Hello, this is your Captain speaking..."

What was the first thing you noticed about your partner?

From Tim: I liked her blue eyes. From Brittany: I was super appreciative that he noticed my eyes because they're the one feature I like about myself, haha. From Tim: And that she always shares her salads...but then I realized it's just because she hates salad.

Tell us about the proposal!

We first went out to lunch at the restaurant we had our first date at. Then, we drove to the Tidal Basin to take a walk around the Jefferson Memorial. We happened to stop at this particular tree near the Japanese Lantern Garden (where Tim had asked me to be his girlfriend). He first directed my attention towards who I thought was this weird guy with black hair and a 70s porno stash hiding behind another tree watching us...turns out it was our friend John dressed up in a wig and mustache. Once I realized it was John, I turned back to Tim and he was already down on one knee. He asked John to hide out there to take photos of the moment!

Wedding Date: October 17, 2015

Wedding Location: Silver Swan Bayside in Stevensville, MD

Approx. number of guests who attended your wedding: 90

What were your top 5 favorite moments from your wedding?

From Brittany: - my parents rented a house on the bay for me and my wedding party to get ready. I woke up a few hours before everyone else and just watched the sunrise by myself that morning - it was a gorgeous day, but the windiest day of the month. I cracked up as I was walking down the aisle because I could tell my veil was blowing into the guests in the first three rows - during dinner, Tim and I took a moment to just watch everyone eating because we couldn't believe all of these people had come together just for us - right before I came out of the house for my first look, I watched our photographer placing Tim for the photos...and seeing him in his tux for the first time was so cute. - the She Crab soup... From Tim: -Food -Friends and family - The first look - sparkler exit - sunset vows

What, if anything, would you change about the wedding planning process?

From Brittany: - To be honest, nothing! It's super obvious to me now that I'm in the wedding industry myself...but I thrived on the planning process. I was incredibly organized, thought of details, and never felt stressed at any point. The coordinator assigned to us by our venue was absolutely incredible. I now realize she did so many things for us that were, technically, not required/part of her job description. If she hadn't been so amazing I would have really regretted not hiring a planner or coordinator.

What, if anything, would you change about your wedding day?

From Brittany: -nothing! From Tim: -I would have appreciated endless cake

Did you participate in any family traditions, or incorporate any heirlooms into your wedding?

We both didn't have any particular family traditions or heirlooms to incorporate. I did try to start my own! I read about an Irish tradition where, right after reciting the vows, each partner rings a bell. The bell is then prominently displayed in their home. Whenever the couple starts to argue, someone rings the bell to remind each other of their vows. I even had our bell inscribed with a sentence from our vows! Unfortunately, our pastor brought the wrong vows with him to the ceremony...so the sentence inscribed on the bell was never said, LOL!

What’s the best thing that’s happened in your lives since getting married?

From Brittany: Adopting our fur baby Bolt! From Tim: Our pooch
