S7E1: The Real Cost of Micro Wedding Photography
Micro weddings are continuing to grow in popularity for several reasons.
They’re more affordable, the couple has the flexibility to spend time with their guests throughout the day, and there’s often less pressure (especially for the introverts out there).
But, not all costs flex with the number of guests on your list.
Guest: Lynne Reznick Photography
Ultimately, it takes time to let the day unfold, time to breathe in the emotions, and time to create beautiful images and capture candid moments.
For this reason, even with just 10-20 people in attendance, your investment in photography may still look similar to the one you’d make if you had a much larger guest list.
So, what factors in to the real cost of wedding photography - at any wedding, including micro weddings?
the cost of micro wedding photography will likely still be one of your main investments in the day
the number of guests you have in attendance plays only a very small role in a photographer’s pricing calculations
the time spent supporting couples during the planning process and the time spent editing afterward remain much the same with a micro wedding
what will have a large impact on the total investment you make in micro wedding photography are the number of wedding day traditions you want to be photographed
many couples who hold micro weddings have a full wedding day in terms of photography because they incorporate a full day of traditions - from getting ready to parent dances and cake cutting
the main savings comes when couples decide to cut down on the number of traditions they include
another area for savings with an intimate group is being able to go without a second photographer
… and more!

How long have you been in business?
Since 2012, so 11 years this year.
What areas do you serve?
The Northeast Region - specifically upstate New York, Boston, Cape Cod, and Newport.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I discovered a love for the craft of wedding photography through planning my own wedding. After that, I got my first DSLR camera and started to build my skills by photographing engagement sessions for free. I'm a highly organized person and an Enneagram 3 - Achiever all the way. Running my own business, serving couples well, and capturing love sounded like a dream so I opened my business as a side hustle while still teaching high school. I went full-time with my business in 2017 and haven't looked back.
